what are the symptoms of akaline battery poisoning?My son in law accidentally swallowed a triple A battery. He was x ray-ed to make sure the battery was on its way to be "discharged" and not lodged in his stomach. He is not having any pain, but he said his bm was rust colored. He is 23n years old and should know better than to put objects in his mouth! However the battery is currently in his digestive tract for day #2(no pun intended!) What danger signs, if any should we be looking for?

even though he had an xray they sould monitor him and should try and to remove it from his body there could be major damage

None really since this is a steel case on the chemicals inside and the human body can't destroy steel so the chemicals can't effect his body but her are the signs.

How the #%$ ^ did he "accidentally" swallow a battery? ANyways, he will be fine as long as the battery is out within a month or so.
