Will my cat get sick or something worse if it eats a straw? My 2 year old cat recently ate a straw on the table.
i was very worried that it could get caught in her digestive system. Is there anything i can do to help her get it out and is it potentialy deadly if in fact she did eat it? Please help.

I don't think it is deadly. If she ate it a while ago, then it is probably already in her system. If not, it may be stuck in her throat in which case it would be best to pull it out. Though it might be painful for you, it could do damage to your cat. If you are truly worried then take her to the vet. I mean, if you don't see the 'remains' of it in her fesces soon, then yes-- you should worry.
Good luck! Everything'll be okay. Hope I helped

Did she shred it and eat it or swallow it intact?
If it's been a few days and she's not behaving strangely, she's probably all right. Check her stool and see if there's blood (if it's black in colour, that also indicates blood there).
At this point, all you can do is watch and wait. I don't have to tell you that cats tend to gak up things they can't digest and, while it's probably not the best thing for her, it's likely not overly toxic.

If you notice any change in her behaviour/health that could be a result of ingesting the straw, take her to the vet ASAP.

Go luck, and give her a tickle for me.

are you seriously telling me that you're cat ATE a straw and instead of calling a vet, you got on the web and started asking random ass-holes what to do. anyone could easily say, cut it open with a fork and take it out. and i hope you don't try that.

You need to take her to the veterinarian ASAP! Yes, it could be serious....it could puncture her intestinal tract!!!

In future, if you see your cat eating something that isn't food, take it away from her immediately.

Right now you can help her by taking her to a vet to make sure the straw isn't caught somewhere in her digestive system or causing a bowel obstruction. Anything can be potentially deadly if a 'wait and see' attitude is adopted. Best to go ahead and take her in.

Good luck!
