What can I do about cronic ongoing bile duct disorders?I have bile duct disorders - no gallbladder it was removed 20 years ago - have had 5 endoscopics to open it up because is closes off. I always hurt in the gall bladder area and it is always sore there - I have digestive disorders that are conncted to celiac disease - nausea and abdominal pain come and go but the abdominal pain never goes away my whole top of my stomach is always sore and tender to the touch as well as over my liver and pancreas - I have elivated ALP on and off all the time this has been going on for at least 5 to 6 years. I have seen a bile duct specialist and he has opened it up. There seems to be a connection with it all and my cholestoral when I have to stop my cholestoral meds because my joints ache my pancress gets irrititated and I get sick - my dr says cholestoral can irritate - not inflame my pancreas - HELP I am tired of this

Have they run LFTs -- liver function tests. There are two fairly rare liver diseases involving the bile ducts -- primary biliary cholangitis and primary sclerosing cholangitis. If one of these is identified, there are treatment regimens than can help make you more comfortable.

Also, the medication actigal/urosodil improves bile flow, and helps reduce the buildup of the sludge that causes discomfort.

Have you ever had an ERCP -- this prodedure goes deeper into the bile duct than an endoscopy, and allows for better dilation. Plus, during the ERCP, any visible stones or sludge can be removed.

Lastly, stents can be implanted that will keep the bile duct open -- and that too can relieve some discomfort.

Sorry -- no easy answers, but some more questions to ask your physician. Good luck.
