What are the meals in a hospital eating disorder program like?I am going to be starting an intensive outpatient program for eating disorders. I've been on the waiting list for 2 years and I am ready for this support and therapy as I'm totally on my own (26, no family, live with craigslist room-mates), and need professional help to ditch this evil thing forever.
SO when the program begins it will be monday to friday, from 11am-7pm. We will have lunch and dinner there. The meals will be supervised and you have a set amount of time to eat in.
I'm scared. I've been bulimic for 3 years now since I was drugged and raped in 2007... and my digestive system is pretty messed up.
I won't be put on the weight gain meal plan since my BMI is healthy, (19.8-- I am 5'7 and 126 lbs)...
so the lady said I will be eating normal, regular meals.
But I don't know what that means. I don't eat pork or beef and that began before the eating disorder, simply because I hate the idea of it (antibiotics, chemical feed etc). Will they force me to eat that? Or will they be ok with me eating equivilent calories in some other form of protein, like chicken or fish or beans or tofu?
And how balanced are these meals? Are they horrible, fatty meals? Or normal food-guide style balanced ones, with a protein, starch and vegetable?
fuck im terrified.

Holy crap. 2 years?!? honestly any program that compromises your health for that long worries me. I was told the 2 week wait at one treatment center I was at was long.
The meals are very healthy and balanced. They should definitely accommodate to you not eating red meat.
Be brave, it's scary but it's not horrible and helps you get your life back!
