speeding your digestive system up after an ED?so, I thought i'd ask this because it's driving me crazy.
Before I had an eating disorder, i'd gotten my digestive system so fast - it was really good for me, and i was doing really well. Then i "developed" my eating disorder, and have been in recovery for a short amount of time, three weeks to be exact. anyways, my question was how can i get my digestive system back to where it was? or at least begin to speed it up? i'd just do what i did before, what i did to speed it up the first time, but it was so long ago i can't even remember.

The best thing you can do is to just keep eating, and make sure you are eating enough. Your body is in a starved state right now, so your metabolism has slowed down in order for you to survive. Once you begin eating a healthier amount, your body will see it no longer in a starved state, and your metabolism will start to speed up again.

I also highly recommend putting your scale away for the time being. Everyone's weight fluctuates from day to day, and even hour to hour, so obsessively weighing yourself will only make you more anxious. I know it's hard, but just get rid of the scale, and instead of focusing on numbers and weight, focus on health and how you feel.

Best of luck

If you want your systems to relearn how to function properly you have to eat and follow your meal plans designed by your nutritionist.

You have to endure through the feelings of being uncomfortable and bloated...they will go away but your body has to realize you will fuel it properly and you will no longer starve it first.
