another term for the job that you are looking for is Medical Scribe. Check the local hospitals in your area to see if any of them emply scribes. There is a growing trend to use scribes (transcriptionalists) to cut down the workload of the doctors. If they dont have to write their own HPI's and do all the paperwork, they can see up to twice as many patients. So definately check it out. Some private practice docs employ people with similar jobs. Good luck, i spent a while doing just that, and its awesome exposure to medical decision making.
