Problems with my digestive system?I had a brain surgery back in 2005, the results have been great until presence, but there is one problem which is my digestive system :( since then I suffer from constipation and have tried so many laxatives and fibers aswell asked my physician for advice. She prescribed polyeth 34grm daily ? Results are me having 1 bowl movement daily about the amount of a infant !!! Also it is painful the few times I go to the bathroom. My average is having a one bowl movement once a week :( I have gained a few pounds on every additional year since then and I do exercise 3x weekly and drink lots of water. My worry is that every year my days increase without a bowl movement, I mean, I am young only 23 Years and I believe I am too young to be having these problems. My appetite decreases every year, I can go a couple days without eating and feel as if I just ate a big meal. My physician does not seem to understand that my digestive system is not functioning correctly, when all I want is something To cure Me not only treat it and I understand that might take time, but as long as it will solve the problem without having to always be on laxatives or fiber for the rest of my life :(... Is there a Certain type of doctor who specializes in this or close to it ? Please help!

Check with a dietician, could be something you're eating

It's really important to have a bowl movement daily. The longer it sits in your system the harder the stool gets. To go regularly you need to eat, so that one pushes the other. I eat a lot and often. small meat portions. I don't snack, I eat ! I'm 5' 10" 170 lbs. Slim and toned.
Lots of soup & stews with vegetables. Fruit is Paramount. very little processed anything. NO snacks ! EAT Right ! Coffee is a laxative but no milk. [you get used to it] Exercise is paramount, walk and cycle. This gets gets your intestines jiggled around, and helps move things along. Liquids to keep things soft. water is ok, juice is better. If your going to drink something there should be something in it of nutritional value. [tomato juice, apple] Oh, and cut out salt as much as possible.
Laxatives use sparingly
