Please only answer if you are actually enlisted in the military?I was recently declined enlistment from the Marines because of my chronic digestive disorder, ulcerative colitis. I was super bummed, until I found out my college offered an ROTC program. You may take two years before signing (which I obviously cannot.) Please be brutally honest, would you, as a man or woman in the armed forces find it to be degrading or for lack of a better word, stupid for me to take part in all of the ROTC classes and PT's without actually being able to join? I still hold full respect for the military and I just wanted to get the experience. It's the only thing I can do that my condition doesn't stop me from. Again, don't be afraid to tell me not do it. I don't want to enroll then find out I'm making a fool of myself.

No, it really would not bother me. There are programs like the Young Marines and kids there may never join too. As long as very little money is wasted, it does not bother me. It may give you some experience at what it is like to serve, and that cannot be a bad thing.

You should check with the Professor of Miltitary Science (PMS) for the ROTC and find out from him if you can take ROTC classes even if you can't join the Army.
I think you can take the first two years of ROTC without any obligation and they would be easy As for you. They would give you a physical if you wanted to take the last two years so you would disqualified at that point.
I don't see a problem if you took ROTC classes without being able to join the Army.
Good Luck,
John

Being honest yes i would. I am a RN and with this disease you will never be excepted. I admire your motivation but you must defecate constantly, come on can you do that in war? Think about it. It is a serious illness.
