digestive symptoms

Lower digestive symptoms for the last few days.?I am an 18 y/o male. For the last 3 days or so, I have been having intermittent pain in my lower abdomen that is usually accompanied by gas and the need to use the bathroom that comes on suddenly. However, I am not having diarrhea or constipation, just having BM's at random times and several times per day (I am usually very regular going once a day, same time every day). When I am not having the gas, I am almost completely fine, almost no pain, just slight tenderness. I have no history of major digestive problems. I would like to address this with diet and/or supplements before seeing an MD. Any ideas as to what it could be and what I can do about it?

It sounds as if you may have a mild form of irritable bowel syndrome, which can come when a person is under a lot of stress.

Treatment for this is a high fiber diet. add more fiber to your diet BUT do it gradually, don't just start eating 30 more grams of fiber a day or you will have more problems.
Introduce more fiber over a week and you MUST also increase your water intake because again if you put in too much fiber and not enough water you will have a blockage.

You can also just add more bulk to your diet by using Metamucil or other product like it. Read the directions on the product and you should be fine.

Good luck.
