Typically: diet, exercise, and the reduction of stress.

Diet: your body is a machine. You need to put the proper fuel in it to get the best possible result in how it operates. Let's say you have a mild intolerance to gluten or dairy, you should probably not eat those things. Also, greasy foods and alcohol always mess with your system, along with a lot of other things out there. The best way to do it is to just eat what makes your body feel best. I emphasize body, though. Just cause it tastes good doesn't mean it makes you feel good.

Exercise: working out the abs is the best strategy, though overall health means your body is burning its fuel efficiently and there won't be any problems digesting nutritious foods.

Stress: always the big target for the blame of gastrointestinal distress. Yes, it causes problems, but normally the people who have issues the most are the people who are already not exercising or eating right. In fact, gastrointestinal issues caused by not working out or eating right will actually increase the probability that you will experience serious stress, making the issue that much worse.
