Is this Crohn's Disease?Ok so crohns disease is an inflammatory disease of the digestive system which may affect any part of the gastrointestinal tract from the mouth to the anus. Now i am not sure if this is crohns disease but it sure sounds like it. I get nauseous and feel like its my stomach but it hurts mostly in the middle of my belly. I think it is the small intestine because it is closest to the stomach. I get nauseous but never vomit. I usually have these episodes 5-6 days a week and take Anti Nausea medicne and take DONNATAL EXTENTABS. Im 12 years old and just found out that i might have crohns disease and am kinda scared. Now nothing is wrong with my bowels they are fine and i never have trouble with my stool. I am supposed to go into the doctors office on Monday but i am snowed in so its not gonna happen. Can someone please help tell me if i have crohns disease? Also if there are any treatments available i would definitely like to hear them.
Thanks

You'll need to see the doctor and have some tests done to have a viable diagnosis. Does Crohn's run in your family? Irritable bowel syndrome is another condition that can cause some of the same symptoms, and I'm sure there are other conditions you could have - so when you're able to, get to the doc's office and find out.

My brother in law has Crohn's and he takes Prilosec. As long as he takes his meds, he's ok.
You need a diagnosis first because there are many disorders that share your symptoms. Considering your age, my first thought was anxiety.

hi purple, I am a female crohn's pt. dxed at age 12. It's not medically advisable to dx on a website. You need to have the necessary tests done by a GI to accurately diagnose it.
The newer treatments available are Entocort, Remicade, Humira, 6MP, and Imuran. It does take a few weeks or months for these to kick in so you have to be patient.
Check out the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation's site as they have great stuff for kids under 18. There is also a live chat and hotline run by healthcare experts as well as an open forum where you can post questions to others like yourself.
I truly understand where you are coming from as I have been in your shoes. Crohn's can flare and go into remission and then flare again. If you do have it, you have to take your meds faithfully, keep all MD and test appointments, avoid smoking and drinking, eat healthy when well, and exercise. The CCFA has local support chapters for all ages. I went to them to educate myself and meet others close to my age so we could swap war stories. That really helped in coping with this illness.
Definitely check out the site, write down your questions to present to your GI, and you can PM me anytime if you have questions as I have been in your shoes.
You can lead a normal life with Crohn's. Knowledge is power. If you can obtain it, you can overcome it. Best of health to you.

I have crohns and it took the Dr. a few months to diagnose it. My Dr. did a cat scan, small bowel follow-through where you drink barium and they shoot x-rays as it travels through your intestines, a colonoscopy, endoscopy and took some x-rays and also blood tests to check for inflammation and antibodies.
These are the typical tests to see if one has crohns or if it is something else.
I do not think anyone here can help but a good GI Dr. will run the above tests and let you know.
