Is albuteral nebulizer treatment save for a 10 month old baby?Just diagnosed with cystic fibrosis. His lung x-rays are clear. His digestive system is the problem area. Why would they automatically put him on these treatments?

i am so sorry to hear that your son was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis. but yes albuterol is very safe for a 10 month old!! i give albuterol neb treatments to newborns at work. if he was diagnosed with CF then that's why they put him on albuterol. CF is degenerative lung disease that get worse over time. he will be put on several breathing medications over the course of his life. he may just have a problem with his digestive system now but that is an just an underlying issue that all CF patients deal with. they may have put him on it as a preventive measure for right now but he will be using it on a daily basis from now on to help open his lungs so he can breathe as deeply as he needs to. hope this helps!
