Introduction of my essay?Hi i am writing an essay on disorders of the digestive system. What would be a better way to write the introduction so its not so boring?
rough intro:
The main function of the digestive system is to break down food, absorb nutrients, and remove waste. There is a wide verity of minor to severe disorders that can prevent the digestive system from functioning properly. Usually nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea are signs of a disorder but many are asymptomatic. Digestive system disorders can effect appetite and nutrition resulting in fatigue and weight loss.

Sounds a little gross here and there but not boring considering this is what you "have" to write about. Only thing I can see is if you can figure out where you could put the word "variety." Other than that can't put too many bells and whistles on a subject that may be just boring anyway.

Maybe you can express how important the digestive system is to the human body, and start with that, instead of going right into the main function.
And after stating , " There is a wide variety of minor to severe disorders that can prevent the digestive system from functionary properly, such as, ( and list them, you don't have to explain them, if you plan on explaining them later in your paper.)

I'd start with making the point of how digestive disorders can be catastrophic to the overall health, then list some of the issues it can cause, and go from there.

Well I would start with something that would get peoples attention like:
How does the food break down? After we eat the delicious pizza or a simple snack the digestive system absorbs nutrients................
so what happens if the dig. sys. suffers of a disorder that can prevent the digestive system from functioning properly? (tell what happens and why). (then tell the symptoms)
