I heard that kids under 6 shouldn't eat nuts. Bad for tummys. True?I thought I read somewhere that children under the age of six should not eat nuts of any kind, that it was not processed by their digestive system. Even if they were not allergic to peanut butter. I mean whole nuts like mixed nuts, etc. Granpa and I often have almonds and other nuts around and want to make sure if we should have them put away when the kids come over.

I've never heard that before. I know that kids under 5 shouldn't really eat nuts because they pose a choaking hazard, but nothing about being hard on their digestive systems.

If a child eats too many, they may get a bad case of gas which can be painful, but that can happen to adults too.

i don't know if its bad for their tummy, you could always ask a doctor.

BUT nuts are a choking hazard

The only reason I could see not giving a young one nuts would be because of choking or an undetected food allergy.

While nuts pose a natural choking hazard (which can be eliminated by creating or buying natural nut butters; 4 cups of nuts ran through a chopper on fine will yield 1 cup of nut butter), nuts have natural oils, good fats (building block fats), and high proteins, all of which are good to help children in their developmental stage
