Does a glass or 2 of red wine help the digestion as well as the spirit?I recall that they drank wine at the last supper, most priests - Catholic & Lutheran - include wine in the Mass, and of course, medical studies conclude that red wine is favorable in combating high cholesterol. Does that also mean that it aids in our digestion?

I believe red wine helps thin your blood, making it easier on your heart to pump blood. It is very possible that this also makes it easier to digest food because of the efficiency of the digestive tract to absorb nutrients into the blood stream.

But this is a science issue, not a religious one. Don't read into it so much that you mix the two.

Yes , Paul told Timothy to take a little wine for the stomach's sake.

As indicated by Jesus and reported by the physician Luke, wine had certain medicinal value as an antiseptic and mild disinfectant. (Lu 10:34) The Bible also recommends it as a curative remedy in cases of certain intestinal disturbances. Paul counseled Timothy: "Do not drink water any longer, but use a little wine for the sake of your stomach and your frequent cases of sickness." (1Ti 5:23) This was sound medical advice. As Dr. Salvatore P. Lucia, professor of medicine, University of California School of Medicine, writes: "Wine is the most ancient dietary beverage and the most important medicinal agent in continuous use throughout the history of mankind. . . . Actually, few other substances available to man have been as widely recommended for their curative powers as have wines."—Wine as Food and Medicine, 1954, p. 5;

Contrary to the erroneous opinions of some, alcoholic liquors are not mental stimulants but are in reality sedatives and depressants of the central nervous system. "Give intoxicating liquor, you people, to the one about to perish and wine to those who are bitter of soul," not as a mental stimulant to make such ones more conscious of their misery, but, rather, as the proverb says, that they may 'forget their troubles.' (Pr 31:6, 7)

Yea, verily it doth!

Hey, my father is 90- HE has a little glass of wine each night. His mother did so- and she was 88 when she died- and not from heart woes, but she got pneumonia and was so stubborn about seeing a doctor before she got real bad!

So- I took their advice and I do indeed myself have a small glass of wine evenings. And I am on not ONE medication. And I'm... well 60 something.

LOL they do say a plain ole glass of good grape juice, like Welch's would do the same- but doggone, it's just not the same, is it?

Religion and science don't necessarily go along. Religion believes by faith, science by evidence. Now as for the actual question, I can't tell but your reason to come up with the question is wrong.
