Does eating disorders cause the heart to race?6 years after Gastric Bypass surgery. Ive developed an eating disorder. Now I have all of a sudden again a racing heart at night and abnormal heart beat. Does this sound like something to do the Gastric surgery. Or does it have something to do with the throwing up? Or both? What I do to gain control over this racing heart?

Eating disorders cause the heart to race because the heart is deprived of nutrients.
You need to figure out what is best for you. Others can suggest. You have to eat right. The choice is yours.

A few people do develop some eating disorders after gastric bypass surgery.
First of all, a racing heart at regular times comes from the fact that you have periods of time where you develop hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) and this activates your fight or flight response and you liberate adrenaline. An abnormal heart rhythm or arrhythmias are generally related to low blood potassium which can be related to both your diminished intake, and vomiting.
You should return to the surgeon who did the surgery and allow him the opportunity to select the specialists to manage this. This can be managed in fairly short order once you get into the correct specialists who see post gastric bypass maladaptive issues.
Please write down all of your symptoms and concerns and make an appointment to see your surgeon asap. It would be dangerous to wait.
Very best wishes.
