Does drinking too much diet coke or taking more than 2 tylenol a day harm your liver?I drink about 2 cans of diet coke a day and i am wondering if it damages your liver? i have spent hours looking for proof online about drinking diet coke but haven't found any. I am aware of how tylenol can adversly affect your liver but the docs have told me that it's the only thing i can take for pain (on top of that i am allergic to aspirin and ibuprofen) I had this rare liver disorder called "primary sclerosing cholangitis" (it damages the bile ducts and then causes liver cirrhosis and death unless you have a transplant) and was lucky enough to have had a liver transplant in december of 2001 after i was stage 3 for 4 years. Now i was diagnosed with another rare liver disorder called "primary billary cirrhosis" (it doesn't differ much from the first illness i described) Fortunately I am still stage one and have no or little symptoms. Maybe someone can tell more about the effects of diet coke or tylenol? (btw, I also drink plenty of juices and other things as well as soda). thank you

Always check with your doctor first but Tylenol can be taken more frequently as a rule. As far as diet coke - anything that contains chemicals that the liver has to remove can potentially afect the liver - especially if you have a problem to begin with. I would suggest switching to water or seltzer. If you must have flavoring, buy some coke syrup and add it to seltzer. That way you are reducing the amount of chemicals.

Well of course the soda company wont tell you how harmful the drink is, but it clogs up yourbody and urinary tract with toxins. You need to drink 8-8oz glasses of water a day. Since you're concerned about the pain relievers, you should also drink cranberry juice. It promotes a healthy urinary tract.

Anything that creates a dependence has a potential for harm. Especially something with no benefit at all, like Diet Coke, will rob you of benefit by satiating the need for water and nutrition. It tells your brain that you are satiated, and you don't need any more food. It's a lie, it's not food and it's definintely not nutrition. It won't even help weight loss. It's death in a silver can. Its resemblance to a silver bullet ought to mean something.
