Do you take digestive enzymes?I don't understand why most digestive enzyme supplements contain cellulase. I know it breaks down cellulose (which is the same as insoluble fiber), but why would you want that? We all need cellulose for constipation. If cellulase breaks down cellulose into absorbable glucose, wouldn't this be a bad thing to take, since it would decrease the insoluble fiber content of the food?

Simply put, there's just not enough content to take care of all of it... just like a multivitamin or other supplement doesn't replace an entire day's worth of food. Even if you took a capsule that was all cellulase (500 mg or so, let's say), that's a half a gram and wouldn't be able to break down all the 25-30 grams of soluble fiber that you should be taking throughout the day.
Digestive Enzyme complexes and other combinations like that typically just give you a little extra if you're missing it... they don't completely replace certain intakes or digest every single thing in it, they just supplement what you've already got to give a little extra boost. I hope that helps!
