Digestive Problems - stomach aches and diarrhea?I have always had an "iron" stomach. Over the last year, however, I have frequent (i.e.- once or twice per month) stomach aches. Sometimes these are accompanied by diarrhea. Only occasionally do I have vomiting symptoms. I assumed the flu or a virus and set an appointment with the doctor, when it happened twice in two weeks -- along with my children being sick. The doctor said it was most likely a mild case of food poisoning.

I've had food poisoning before. If this was it, it was definitely "mild" comparatively. It is hard for me to believe I'm getting food poisoning so frequently, though. I do eat a lot of microwaved lunches, at work (i.e.- leftovers heated up). I've been doing that for years, though.

I read up on food illnesses, and there is usually an 8 hour or 12 hour gestation period for many viral and bacterial problems. I am pretty conscious of what I eat, too. I make sure I heat things up very well. Finally, I pitch refrigerated leftovers after 3-4 days. Help?
I saw an infomercial touting vinegar for heartburn and "acid reflux." I tried it, and it seemed to work. I later saw internet info, all over, that touted enzymes -- saying that as you get older your stomach produces less enzymes. I've also been told that yogurt may help. Anyway, the vinegar seems to help -- unless it is "just in my head." Perhaps there are natural enzymes in vinegar? Any suggestions for enzyme supplements or homemade versions, and is this possibly the right path?

You may want to check out the site www.hufa.org, both the symptoms link and the yeast link. Low blood sugar can cause nausea and stomach aches, and yeast can piggyback on low blood sugar.

I would get a second opinion.
Sounds like it could be parasites - but not being a doctor I couldn't say. But testing of the stool by a lab could tell you a lot more.

you may want to get a second opinion. Did the Doc. run tests to see if there was something going on with your digestive system. Do you have a lot of stress? That may be a big factor. Are you running a high temperature? that is a sign of a bacterial infection. Practice good hand washing technique and try different foods besides microwavable ones. It may not be how you are cooking your food or heating your food, but your food of choice. I would check with another Doc. and request that he run tests to find out what is going on. oh and over the counter drugs may just cover up symptoms. Another thing are you on any medication with an adverse effect that would cause nausea and vomiting?
