digestive problems, flu-like symptoms, light coloured stool?Hello,

I've been having some health problems for a while now. It started with a chest infection which I had antibiotics for. I then developed problems with my digestion: lots of diarrhoea and I could see that there was a lot of undigested food. This has been on and off for a couple of months now. For the last four days I've had flu-like symptoms and found moving around extremely tiring, getting hot and cold, waking up in the night with violent chills, loss of appetite and feeling nauseous. Today I had a bowel movement and it was almost grey in colour. Also my urine is dark and cloudy. I hope my description is easy to follow, I'm starting to get fed up as it seems to be one thing after the other, and I'm worried if I go to the G.P they will tell me it's nothing. Thanks.
Ruzica, thanks, but why would you bother answering if you don't know? That's just not helpful.
TK, you're right, I'm just being silly but I don't like wasting their time...
William, I'm not scared, If I get cancer then there isn't much I can do about it.
Gussy, I did wonder if it was caused by the antibiotics. Thanks, you've all convinced me I need to go!

Hi there!

Sometimes when you get respiratory tract infections, the bugs can also get into your GI (digestive) system and cause you to have stomach aches and diarrhea. However, the fact that your GI symptoms have been persisting on-off for several months is somewhat troubling.

The fatigue, nausea, loss of appetite and chills are often what we call 'B symptoms', meaning that they are something that shouldn't be ignored, and you should have checked out by your GP/family doctor. Don't worry about having them tell you that it's nothing...after all, it's better to be safe than sorry, and from the sounds of it, it sounds like you have a good case to go seem them regardless!

Not to scare you to death but check out Pancreatic cancer.

Definately go to your GP.
I'm not saying its something bad, but dont worry about going to your GP for things like this, its people who go in with a sniffle that are the annoying ones!
These symptoms are quite common and could be quite a number of things so if you go to the GP they will be able to help with that.
One possibility is that these could be related to the antibiotic, but it could be any number of things.
Your doctor knows you and really does know best.

your body could be lacking some important enzymes, you should consult a doctor to see if some digestive enzymes could help to better your situation.
