Can someone tell me if I might have a hernia?I had my appendix out earlier this year. About a week after surgery I was reaching for something and felt a painful stretch at the site of surgery. Recently, my lower right abdomen has been hurting almost like a muscle ache for about the last month and it seems to be getting worse. I can't really tell if there is a lump. Could I have developed one after surgery because the wall was weak? what are some symptoms and digestive problems that can lead to one besides just heavy lifting?

well you aren't supposed to lift or strain fro 6 weeks post-op because the abdominal wall is compromised, and any increase in intrabdominal pressure can cause herniations through muscle. The most common side effect would be pain, maybe a palpable lump near the incision site. if you continue to have pain or increased pain you should follow up with the doctor definately.
RLQ pain is contributed to appendix, but since yours is gone, it could be ovarian in nature too. Doctor visit would be the best bet. good luck!
