Can Raspberries survive the human digestive system?OK, Raspberries are clearly supposed to be eaten by some kind of bird, which disperses their seeds. What kind of bird disperses their seeds? Can their seeds survive passing through a human digestive system?

Ok, birds "disperse" seeds because they swallow it whole instead of chewing it up like us humans, and even if we just swallow it, it can't grow in our bodies or we cant poop it out because our stomach enzymes are too strong. Birds on the other hand have weaker stomach enzymes

The seeds are eaten by many species of fruit eating birds. There would be too many to list here, since raspberries are common not only in North America, but parts of Europe, and is found in a few places in Asia as well. So that covers a lot of bird species.

The previous answer has the part about digestion a little backwards - in humans, the seeds would only need to withstand the digestive process (stomach acid), but in birds, the seed would not only have to survive chemical digestion, but mechanical digestion in the gizzard where food is ground by small pieces of gravel (grit) that the bird swallows. Birds need the gizzard to crush up food since they don't have teeth to chew it.

So if a raspberry seed can survive the digestive system of a bird, it could survive that of a human.
