Blood, digestive tract problems?*Note* To anyone uncomftorable w/ blood or stools, I suggest not reading on. Anyways, I recently found blood in my stool. I didn't actually see my stool, but I noticed some blood on the pieces of toilet paper I used. I thought that maybe I had just been wiping to hard or something and that it would not appear again. I kept wiping though and it kept appearing. Now, I don't know if it actually "mingled" with the stool, since it only showed red on the paper and the stool on the paper itself seemed a kind of a medium dark green and gray color. My "inside" doesn't feel itchy and it doesn't hurt, I don't think I caused it by wiping to hard, there was still blood after repeated wipes, and it is a bright red. I don't engage in any for of sexual conduct and haven't, so it isn't an std or an abrasion. I have had some tract issues, I get "the runs" after eating foods like pizza and chicken tenders and such, and I think I might be lactose intolerant or have IBS, but this is new. Any idea? Thanks.

You need to see your doc ASAP and get this checked out. Blood from the rectum needs prompt attention. You mention that the stool itself was dark green or grey in color and that is not normal. Also the fact that you have diarrhea after eating certain foods signals something is wrong. The abnormal stools and diarrhea after eating certain foods should have been checked out a long time ago. Since you are not sure if the blood was even in the stool I will not even attempt to guess what might be going on. See your doc ASAP.

Well You should definately make an appointment with your family doctor and they will decide whether you should see a surgeon or not, I wouldn't get too worried until after that. Chances are you either have colonic polyps, or an anal fissure (a tear in your anus), both of which can usually be fixed by a surgeon with a local anesthetic surgery, the polyps can usually be removed while you are having a colonoscopy done, they are very common, but should be dealt with promptly, you should not put this on hold though, because there are always risks with putting medical attention off!

If the blood was bright red it is more than likely coming from a hemorrhoid. Monitor your movements and if you continue to see blood see a Dr.
