20 year old with enlarged Thymus?Hello! I'm 20 years old, and have been diagnosed with Crohn's Disease since i was 12.
It is an auto-immune/inflammatory disorder which mostly just attacks my GI tract and my joints.
Lately my eyesight has been getting bad, but i dont know if it is because of the Crohns or just getting older.
Back in December (it is now march) i had pneumonia, and underwent 2 rounds of antibiotic treatment at the beginning of January.
In February a follow up cat scan showed that i had an enlarged thymus and a strange density on my spine.

I have never had Chemo,
Never drank,
Never did drugs.

What could cause an enlarged thymus in a young adult???

Enlarged thymus may well indicate it is working overtime. More tests are in order for you dear.

The thymus gland usually involutes in most people, certainly by your age

One thing that may be associated with the thymus and autoimmune diseases is myasthenia gravis, a condition whereby muscle nerves are attacked by the immune system, causing fatigue of muscles (and sometimes eyesight problems, droopy eyelids)

Just a thought, I'd definitely try to get a referral to someone to perhaps biopsy/remove the gland (a general surgeon)
