What should I feed my great dane puppy with digestive issues?I feed her Eagle Pack giant breed for puppies and she has had diarrhea for weeks! We have been to the vet and they have not really had any good answers. I want to stay away from the raw diet until she is a bit older...HELP Please!

Canine ID Hills...ask your Vet for it.

Hills Science Diet if your vet supplies it - and maybe look around at other vets if yours is being so unhelpful? It may be trial and error finding a feed that suits her - a couple of the GSDs that I have owned have had very sensitive stomachs, and what worked with one didn't with the other - so you may have to experiment a little - just make sure to introduce any new food gradually over a few days. If your pup has had ongoing diarrhoea I would get a second opinion that there is no other cause, other than that - good luck finding the solution - there will be a feed out there that suits her.

I am wondering if you changed the puppy from a raw diet to a commercial one--if so, that is part of the problem. Traditional vets and those not familiar with raw diets will often suggest you change which is not a good idea..
In most cases, any diet changes need to be done gradually. For instance, 90/10, 80/20, 70/30, etc until you have completely switched over. Doing so slowly will help you avoid diarrhea. Make sure the pup is not dehydrated and try one of the pet digestive aids on the market such as Prozyme.

www.dogfoodanalysis.com. I have a wolfhound and you have to be careful of amount of protien you give them and yes their stomachs are very sensitive. I can't even give my dog table scraps he has had many bouts of diarrhea. he is currently eating canidae. because I have other dogs of all age, breeds and sizes.
