*Fractures
These usually result from external forces.
Many types. e.g. closed fracture (no penetration of skin by bone), open fracture (a bit yuck coz bone sticks out through skin), greenstick fracture (a partial fracture), etc.
*Osteomyilitis
Infection of the bone, usually after an open fracture where the bone tissue has been exposed to the outside world.
*Osteoporosis
Imbalance of osteoblastic (bone-building) and osteoclastic (bone-removing) activity. As the name suggests, bones become thinner and more porous because osteoclastic > osteoblastic.
*Osteoarthritis
Bone rubbing on bone, usually at synovial joints (in the limbs). This is where the articular cartilage wears away increasing friction during normal movement.
Basically injuries of the skeletal system are usually fractures and disorders of the skeletal system are those that have "osteo" in their names (osteo means bone).
