Sharp pains, acid reflux and nose bleeds...related?For several months now I have been having acid reflux problems. Acidy liquid coming up in my throat, hurts to swallow sometimes, bad smell coming from my throat and so on. I have also had sharp pains in my chest/rib area along with it being kinda hard to breath..and they are recently getting more frequent. I was wondering if the sharp pains could be related to the acid reflux? And my second question is that I get nose bleeds, A LOT..and I have been to the doctor..but he has been no help..and I get them like every day. So I was wondering if nose bleeds could be caused from acid reflux as well?

**I take Zantac twice a day which seems to keep the acidy liquid from coming up in my throat pretty well.

**Additionally for your info..I have Crohn's disease (a disease that affects the digestive system..and have an ostomy..so no large bowel and part of my small bowel gone. Also I have no gull bladder. Just incase that helps any.

Chest pains and acid reflux can definitely be co-morbid. If you continue to have problems with the reflux you might consider seeing an internal medicine doctor (gastro). As far as the nose bleeds are concerned, I highly doubt they are related. Frequent nose bleeds are common - especially if the air has been dry or your allergies have been acting up. In some cases, a capillary may need to be cauterized. In any case, if your symptoms remain unchanged - make a visit to your primary care doctor.
