I have some major digestive problems and other symptoms, does anyone know what this could be?Symptoms include: a metallic taste in my mouth, pain around my kidney area, sharp abdominal pains, cheat pain, reccuring thrush, diareah, bloating, nausea, bad breath, pale frothy stools, malabsorbtion (food and oil visible in bowel movements) indegestion, migraine. I am a vegan, have recently removed all gluten from my diet. I'm healthy weight, not pregnant, I don't smoke, exercise at least 3 times a week and recently started doing yoga classes once a week. Why am I so sick???

I am vegan for both health reasons and ethical beliefs. I tried removing gluten from my diet as I thought it could be celiac disease but it hasn't helped yet. I have been told before that it could be IBS, I've been having problems on and off for 6 years now but some of my newer symptoms don't seem to fit in with the typical IBS symptoms. And I also can't bear to think that this will never go away...

Wow I don't really know, but it might be the change in your diet - you could seriously be missing some nutrients that your body needs to absorb specific nutrients that you're ending up passing in your bowel movements. I would call your doctor and make an appointment to discuss it - you obviously can provide him with a detailed explanation of what's going on, I'm sure he can help you. I would go though, because you need some nutrients/vitamins to help your body absorb OTHER nutrients/vitamins. Call any health food store for advice on that if you like - but the commercials for Centrum and other multi vitamin supplement things always say something about improving the absorption of something or other. Be safe!

It could be IBS (Irritible Bowel Symdrome). You may be intollerent to some other foods. Are you a Vegan by moral choice or because you are worried about allergies to foods?
Try an exclusive diet, have one day detox where you just have water and herbal teas then the next day introduce things one by one into your diet. When you know that hasnt caused any problems, try something else. Take a multi vitimin too to stop you missing out on essential vitamins. Vegan diets are not always rich in enough protien and vitamins so make sure you are getting everything you need. Consult a doctor or nutritionist if you are still worried but i would say its because you are not getting what your body needs from your diet.
Cranberry juice will help thrush and lots of water will help your kidneys filter out toxins and help with the bloating.
