Has anyone had digestive problems after they have had their gall bladder removed?I had my gall bladder removed in August, 2004 and continue to have chronic problems with my digestive system. I have been prescribed multiple meds and they don't seem to work. Has anyone else had problems and what has helped you?

I had mine removed in 2004 as well and was part of a study done at Mayo Clinic for just that problem so it must be prevalent. I personally cannot eat any greasy foods. I get diarrhea(spelling?) and I was told that is a common problem after gallstone removal. It all depends if you have other issues that happened to surface at that time. I have gastritis as well that came up after my surgery and take a drug called protonix for it. I also don't drink anything that is carbonated. For me it is like drinking fire. Through trial and error I now know what bothers me the most and rarely need the protonix anymore. Things like a large apple with the peeling just about kills me. So does a large amount of anything with lots of fiber. I can eat small amounts, over the course of a day but not at one sitting so I eat only small apples and if it is kind of big, I peel it. I can drink small amounts of carbonated drinks, maybe one or two a week but only fountain pop. I can't buy a can or bottle of Pepsi or Coke and drink it. Good Luck. It is frustrating isn't it?
