Good and safe digestive enzyme supplements? My mom seems to think taking digestive enzymes is "weird" or bad, is that true at all? What do you think?/ Also, which of those supplements would you reccommend/ tried yourself and had good results with (like specific names)?

They're generally useless.
Your stomach and small intestine rather effectively destroy proteins. Few can survive, so supplementation is pretty much a waste. They are given for a few specific disorders, but even then they aren't that effective.

Digestive enzymes are very important---I alsways have had trouble with digestion and I recently discovered KEFIR---I tried them and they are delicious---I got one with blueberries, another with strawberry-banana, and a third one with vanilla--they taste delicious, are loaded with 10 probiotics and various enzymes--and guess what? I drank the first kefir and it worked.......if you can't find a flavored one, buy a plain kefir and add fresh fruit and a little sweetener if you like---them things taste better than smoothies and definitely work....

They are not bad. Bromelain is a protein-digesting enzyme.

Digestive enzymes are amazing. My mother has cured Laryngopharyngeal Reflux (LPR) and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) - suffered for 5 years - within 2 weeks of digestive enzymes and 85% improvement with gastritis (suffered for 25 years) with digestive enzymes within 6 months. My mother uses Nature's Sunshine's protein digestion with protein meals and Dr Sandra Cabot's digestive enzymes with every other meal. Puristat has good reviews. Tell you mother Oprah recommends digestive enzymes as well. :)

Most people go for yogurt. My oldest son, who's been skinny for a while seems to get his appetite opened by yogurt. We buy the silk brand.
I, personaly, am a firm believer of vineger as enzimatic supplement. I tried a table spoon of braggs cider apple vinegar in 2 cups of water 15 min before every major meal and it has helped me gag 6 out of the 10-12 recommended glasses of water for bodybuilders a day, as well as calming my stressed traps. My nervous system hasn't been the best since I was 16, ans shortly after I became a parent and breadwinner (24), I became irritable. Cider apple vinegar has noticeably calmed me down.
Another type of vinegar that is not as strong and my children love is kolowsky's red and blackberry. It's not nearly as strong to cider apple.
Another great enzimatic supplement is Calcium, combined w/phosphorus and vitamin D. The one we buy also includes magnesium, and is sold by Enzymatic Therapy.
By the way, my wife has made her research to land on this brand.
Most people, like your mom, will be suspicious of alternative and/or preventive medicines. My grand ma is a retired nurse and her subconscious was forced to believe only petrolium based medicines had any effect.
Of course, there is an instance where their effects are not true: when it's just too late.
See, the human body is a perfect machine. In the beginning, and this is true for those who maintain it properly, it will be noticeable when something is benefiting it or damaging it. But after years and years of neglecting it, you don't even have to press the clutch to change gears... and people like that.
People develop an appearent immunity to junk foods, alcohol and what not... and they seem ok for 20-30 years, then, they're diagnosed w/something major and given no hopes but a deadline... how many times have you heard "the dr. gave him 6 months"? or "he was reccomended for dialisis"?
You can go on and on about how we never learned that an ounce of prevention is worth pounds of cure...
