Genetic disorders...? Can anyone help? Both sickle cell anemia and hemophilia:

a. are caused by genes coded for defective protein
b. are seen in homozygous dominant individuals
c. are diseases of the gastrointestinal system
d. none of the above

I chose 'a', but I'm just not 100% sure it's correct. 'c' definitely can't be and neither 'b' cause there wasn't any mention of hemophilia being present in homozygous individuals. But it might be 'a' or no correct answer. The wording in my book confused me a bit and I'm not sure if 'a' is the right answer just expressed very differently in the lesson.

I would go with "a" for sure. For sickle cell they got a mutation in a hemoglobin gene that results in a defective hemaglobin protein that cannot bind enough oxygen. "b" is wrong because they are homozygous recessive diseases. In other words, you need two faulty genes to have the disease, though sickle trait, where you have just one defective gene, can cause subtle illness.
