Does anyone here have digestive system problems/disorders? Anyone had a capsule endoscopy,Severe constipation?I guess I'm just looking for support and comfort...I'm kind of in the middle of this nightmare-ish situation right now and I want to know if anyone else here has been through this before...so basically for a year now i've been reaaaally sick...my digestive system just really doesn't work (SEVERE constipation). I was 135 pounds and now im 93 pounds...i'm currently going through all of this testing to see why my digestive system won't work (and why i've developed all these food sensitivities) and basically all they've found is Crohn's disease in my blood work but NOT in the colonoscopy (so they can't diagnose or treat me for that) and a blockage in my stomach that they call "SMA". But they can't find what's wrong with my intestines. I've had a barium X ray, Colonoscopy, endoscopy, ultra sound...and tomorrow I'm doing a capsule endoscopy.
Does anyone have any advice? Has anyone else been through this? Does anyone here have digestive issues? How did they diagnose you, your symptoms?

My sister has Crohn's disease. She gets bound up, has lots of pile-ups, pain and discomfort. She always had terrible stomach pains throughout her whole life but we didn't know why. Crohns disease is inflamation of the colon. Sometimes the passage ways through the colon are so small waste cannot get through properly. I'm not sure of many other diseases which cause this, but talk to your doctor about it. It took the idoits a long time to figure out what my sister had.
I hope you find out what is wrong and I hope you get better.

Keep up the fight. It took me 6 years for a diagnosis. During that time, I went through 3 GP's and 3 specialists. Unfortunately, it takes about 2 years and a visit to at least 2 specialists in order to come up with a diagnosis.
If they find Crohn's in a blood test, then this is a start.

I have severe constipation because of previous surgeries causing adhesion's on my colon, don't know much about Crohns disease but I do know the doctor told me to stay on a low residue diet an I also take Glycolax every night ,The only permanent way to solve what I have is resection of my colon ,take the part with the adhesion's out but the only problem with this is that causes for another surgery which years from now I will have more scar tissue building up,so I'm try to not go there yet . You know it seems to me if blood work showed crohns disease then it wouldn't matter if the scopes showed anything because sometimes that is just in the eye of the doctor looking in but blood work is acurate most of the time.

I have had intestinal issues and stomach issues since I was a baby. To give you perspective, I am 50 now so it's been a long time. I have a hiatal hernia in my stomach, which means that part of my stomach has pushed through my diaphragm wall just below my lungs. I have to eat s l o w l y and chew my food carefully or else I will get sick. Sometimes I have a hard time swallowing., and if I eat too fast, I feel like barfing. I am prone to gastritis, too.
I was born with an allergy to milk and had severe intestinal issues as a result. I nearly died as a baby and was put on soy products. As an adult I learned that I was actually Lactose Intolerant, so I drink Lactaid milk etc. Ironically as a kid I could drink whole milk, but now it makes me sick. I had a period of ulcerative colitis, regular colitis and then later found out I had IBS, with alternating bouts of constipation and diarrhea. This was resolved by taking Metamucil, which builds bulk in my colon. I have had four upper GI endoscopies, several barium xrays of the upper and lower GI tract, and 7 colonoscopies because I produce polyps and they have to be removed. The whole issue is a pain....
I am so sorry you are going through this. Have the doctors tested you for a malabsorption problem? See article below. Have they tested you for thyroid issues, as well, or automimmune diseases? These can be a direct corollary to your issue.
I would change doctors and find a specialist who can really concentrate on the issue at hand. I find it strange that they won't treat the Crohn's disease. It shows up in your blood work, so I think you should be treated, but sometimes blood work is odd. I tested positively for Lupus for 4 years in a row, and yet, I don't have lupus. It turned out I had fibromyalgia, but that I was just one of those people who test positively for things I simply don't have. This may be why they won't treat you.
Are you drinking lots and lots of water? I know that I will get bound up if I don't, so is this an issue with you? I am not trying to sound stupid, but merely am trying to help.
We are with you. We know how you feel.

I have had severe digestive issues for several years now, and after many tests and probing this and that they still don't really know what's wrong with me.
Last year I was finally diagnosed, through a stool sample, with an intestinal infection which was treated with a round of antibiotics. This seemed to help in the short term, but the problem rebounded with more ferocity than ever in a couple of months, and the second round had absolutely no effect at all on my gastronomic issues( I'm nauseated severely every morning)and I was back to square one.
I've been to the doctors so much I was going broke from the bills and getting nowhere, so I tried to figure out for myself what has been different in my diet, etc.
They blamed my problems on my caffeine intake ( I drink at least one pot of coffee evey day) so I laid off that to no effect.
I've always had a penchant for hot foods, and they said that was a no-no, so I laid off that and felt even worse.
Then a few weeks ago, I realized that I had not been eating hot peppers and such like I used to do (every day) and I started enjoying them again as I used to. Lately I've been feeling better and better, and as strange as it may sound, I think the ingestion of hot foods is the answer to my issues.
I've not been constipated once since I started my daily pepper eating ritual- my gas and nausea have subsided dramatically, and I seem to be feeling a little better every day.
I'm not saying this would work for you because every one is different and some people can't tolerate hot foods, all I'm saying is that nothing else has worked that they've tried, so I'm taking my life back and eating what I want to and enjoying the hot stuff I used to, and I'm feeling better than I've felt in awhile.
I think there are many things that modern medicine, as marvelous as it is, can't provide an answer to, and I'm currently checking into a homeopathic physician to see if there's a chance that another way to fight my problem may exist. In the meantime, I'm continuing on my pepper regimen because it certainly is not making things any worse.
I know I've not been much help in answering your question, but wanted you to know I do feel for you and you are in my prayers and do hang in there, because I do believe there will be an answer to your problem soon. God bless and keep you!!
