Does anybody know anything about a babie's digestive system?Doesn't the infant's immature digestive system play a major role in colic? I just read a few articles on breastfeedingonline.com website, including "Colic in the breastfed baby", but it didn't talk about that.
Our breastfed baby is just 5 months old and my wife has cut out all dairy, soy, wheat and peanuts. She pumps a bit before she feeds too, to eliminate some of the foremilk. The baby is still having short bouts of colic due to digestive problems.
Isn't there a time when the babie's digestive system matures and she can handle, for example the mother eating dairy again in larger quantities?

Was the possibility of reflux ever explored?
How about a visit to a pediatric chiropractor? Baby might need a back adjustment.

I was going to say probiotics could help too- Kefir, Kombucha and Culturelle (available online for best price). Wow- really sorry you're going through this! Hope it gets better soon!!! Congrats on your baby!

My daughter had colic symptoms and I found out that she has acid reflux. She is now on medication for the acid reflux and all of the colic symptoms are gone.
I am not sure if this helps, but I know as a mom who is breastfeeding her six month old how difficult it was to limit what I ate. I no longer have to do that.

An immature digestive system is the reason babies have reflux. Ask your pediatrition re: digestive issue.
Many young babies have a certain amount of gas and seem to strain as it is passed or as a bowel movement occurs, or display colic symptoms, simply because of the immaturity of their digestive system. Most babies' bodies manage gas more easily with growth (just past 3 mos), maturity, and greater activity.
It seems from your statement that she has gotten a bit better, and as time goes on, you will notice more and more improvement.
Because so many people promote the idea that food in mom's diet causes gas, many a breastfeeding mom will immediately assume it is due to something she has eaten if her baby is gassy. Most likely it could possibly not even be that. But, if this is the reason, you will most likely notice other symptoms, such as excessive spitting up or vomiting, colic, diarrhea, rash, persistent congestion or runny nose.
Have your wife start re-introducing those foods, one at a time in small quantities. If she finds she can add a food back into her diet, introduce the next one.
