well the intestines on the inside have little fingerlike things sticking out of the walls called villi. they help to absorb nutrients and water.
diseases on digestive system are colon cancer, diabetes, irritable bowel system, Crohns disease, etc.

The Digestive System can have a disease called GERD, which is Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease, or Heartburn. It is when stomach acid goes back up into the esophagus and causes pain and tissue damage. In the Digestive system, you swallow a bolus (a food wad, basically) and it travels down the esophagus, which pierces the diaphragm and leads into the stomach, where the food is mixed with gastric juices and enzymes to break down the food. After that, it is turned into chyme, or a white liquid substance that is squirted into the duodenum and into the small intestine, where all of the nutrients are absorbed. After that, the waste travels through the colon, and bile is secreted from the gallbladder. Then the colon goes into the anus, and yeah, the end.
