Digestive problems??

Digestive problems??Ok, at first I thought my son was just having issues with constipation from a milk allergy... But I am starting to think that may not be the case..... He has problems passing BM... I have to give him a suppository or he won't do it.. And he HATES it when I do, but when he gets the urge to go, he won't..He'll start screaming in pain and grabbing his butt and saying his tummy hurts... and it usually is really tight... He'll cry for a while, then I'll give him one to help it along, but I don't think he's constipated..Whenever it comes out it is really soft and squishy.

I was thinking maybe a digestive problem, but I am not sure... What do you think it could be....

Also I am gonna schedule a doctors appointment next week.. They were closed already when I called today at 1. The reason we've been waiting is to see if it was a milk allergy or not......

This has been going on for over a week now, and I give him a suppository every other day.
Also he is 2 1/2 and still in diapers.

We've tried potty training him for almost a year, and he is not at all ready....
Reading up on it, we had stopped all dairy for a week and at first it seemed to help a little, but not enough. So that is why we waited for a week.. Since it hasn't done any good, we can outrule the allergy, and that is why we are taking him to the doc next week. They told us to try that first.

if your boy is complaining of a stomach ache and he drinks cow's milk he may be lactose intolerent. lots of people have this. ask your doctor andif that is the case i would recommend lactaid milk

Well it sounds a little bit serious. If i where you I will stop on the milk for the next couple of days and see if that makes any changes and if it does you found your problem but if not then you really need to take him to the doctor.

I think you should definitely get a dr. appointment, I would even suggest going to an after hours clinic or hospital now. A digestive problem isn't something to take lightly. Pay attention to the color and texture of his BM as well. If it looks chalky or dark or black, he could have something wrong with his stomach or internal bleeding. I am sure it's something they can fix right away, just don't sit on this. (I know you're not as you said)- BUT tell the doctor if they sound wishy washy, that you are not leaving there until they find out what's wrong. I have IBS which is Irritable Bowel Syndrome, I go through similar things every single day. I wasn't diagnosed until about 2 months ago and I've had these problems all my life, don't let the doctors make him a statistic. :)
BTW- IBS, isn't dangerous. While you are waiting for the doctor appointment try feeding him more fiber (veggies). LOTS of them, maybe it will calm his stomach a bit. GOOD LUCK!!!

Some foods that are supposed to soften the stool are prunes, apple juice, and Karo syrup. I am going to assume, though, you have tried those since you have dealt with the problem this long and have had to use suppositories. Your poor little guy must be feeling pretty rotten to be so backed up. Lactose intolerance is very uncommon for toddlers, and usually causes bloating, gas, and diahrrea. A regular milk allergy usually causes a rash, hives, or swelling. However, both problems can also cause constipation. It's hard to say what's going on with your son without a medical degree, but I think you're probably already doing everything you can do at this point. Your doctor may decide to give your son a laxative or reccomend other dietary changes.
