Can antibiotics cause digestive problems that result in vaginal and anal burning??About a year ago i was sick with mono and was treated with antibiotics. Since then, i've had chronic burning vaginally and anally. I thought it was a yeast/hemorrhoid problem, respectively, but gynos and other docs say thats not it. Also, i'm super sensitive to everything i eat!! Coffee, chocolate, spicy food, garlic, lemon, tons of stuff, its crazy!! I have an appt. with an allergist and a gastroenterologist next week but want to go in with some ideas first. I've tried everything else!!

They can cause a lot of different problems. You have bacteria all throughout your body including your gut and vagina that help to maintain a healthy balance. When you take the antibiotics, they usually kill off a good amount of these good bacteria as well as the bad. Once you stop, though, they should get back to normal. I've never heard of a problem persisting a year after the antibiotics though. Good luck.

Keep talking to doctors.
Persist them, until they give you a proper answer.

Just off hand I would say to avoid anal to vaginal sex without proper cleansing between. The loss of natural flora could Carry trough your whole digestive tract, exiting the colon. A bleeding hemorrhoid is a good point of entry for an advantageous bacteria/virus. Coffee and chocolates are stimulants and could acerbate the situation. Lemons have acid and garlic leads to flatulence, both of which could create
problems. Spicy foods should be avoided due to causing damage to epithelial cells lining your intestinal systm.
Get a vaginal and rectal/colon smear done and have a microbiologist test the resulting bacterial growth.
