Are Doberman dogs prone to digestive problems, or only fawn or Isabella colored Dobies? It seems our two fawn dobies have delicate digestive tracts as if we veer even slightly from their regular dog food and dog treats they end up with diarrhea (sub question how do you spell diarrhea?). After a feed of rice and hamburger (cooked) for a couple of days they are again right as rain!!!

Most doby dogs and dogs of like have a natural pace about them, they are like some of those kids who cant gain weight.
Water is the key, they need lots of it. The acid enzymes if not deluted it causes the digestive system to cramp and this creates diarrhea.

I have been told that any variation of any kind to any dogs' foods can cause diarrhea (your spelling is correct), unless you change the food gradually by blending the new food with the old food until eventually you are serving only the new. I have also been told that it is not a good idea to change your dogs' foods often unless recommended by the vet.

my danes are the same way. i found after much effort they dont tolerate chicken!! try lamb and rice kibble, we like ( nutro).also feed in 24/7 feeders so dogs pick all day now and then instead of "wolfing"or/and feed three smaller meals instead of one big one. makes all the difference. dont forget dry kibble no matter how good it is will swell when inside the dog to three x its size. so feed small amounts often. :) ITS THE CHICKEN and dont vary their diet it will mess up any dog.

Hello,

YES.
Dobermans have very delicate digestive systems and are very prone to mecanical diarrhoea, this is caused by changing food ingredients abruptly.

if you have to change their food to a new brand you must do it very slowly, mix a small amount of the new food with the old one, then gradually add more of the new one until you can safely give them just the new food.

Try not to give them table scraps if you can avoid it. They do well with the hamburger and rice because the rice absobs the gastic acid and helps the digestive system to get back to normal.

Being that they are fawn dobbies and these tend to have food allergies, you may want to try lamb next time instead of beef, it´s easier to digest and they may do better.

The best thing I can sugest is try not to give your dogs anything outside there regular food, I know this can be hard, I have a Dalmatian that´s allergic to meet so he can´t have the same treats that his playmate gets. They get the same vegetarian formula, but only one of them actually needs it.

Hope this is helpfu. Good luck.
