9 year old dog with GI problems - please suggest something? Our 9 year old Schipperke mix has something wrong with her GI tract. The vets have been checking things out for a year and can't seem to diagnose it. She is really miserable!
Symptoms: Over night her intestines will start making really loud noises (roaring, squeaking etc) by morning she won't eat and she is in obvious pain. She rarely has diarrhea when this happens (maybe once out of every 10 episodes or so) and she rarely vomits either. Here is what we have tried so far:
Pepto bismol - this helps somewhat, but it isn't helping as much and we want to know the cause of this not just medicate her.
Change of diet - we changed everything slowly and tried to find any allergies. She hasn't got any according to the doggie allergist.
Pepcid AC - she vomits this up.
Prozac - the vet wondered if it was stress - it wasn't.
More exercise - she enjoyed it but still had episodes.
She has these episodes about 3 times a week at least. Please any suggestions!
Thanks in advance.
She has been tried on both pre and pro biotics. She has been on a few different brands of food, homemade, and raw. No change. She hates pumpkin. Blood work all normal. Thanks for the suggestions.

I didn't see pre- or probiotics on the list of things that you've tried. You might look for a naturopathic vet. Take all the test results from over the past year and get their opinion. You didn't state what you are feeding or brands that you've tried, so I hesitate to suggest a food. No pumpkin is mentioned either. There are so many other ways you can go and things that you can try to make the dog more comfortable, but I would suggest a naturopath first.

Was blood work done on the dog? If so, what where her Amalayse and Lypase levels? It's possible it could be pancreatitis but your vet should see that from the Amalayse and Lypase levels.
